Adventures around the East Cape with Max, 17-19th May 2024. We climbed Hikurangi for sunrise, which at 1752, is the North Island's highest non-volcanic mountain. The next sunrise was spent on the easternmost beach we could publicly access. Just to be sure we saw the sunrise first on at least one of the days, although depending on the time of year, Dunedin is sometimes first to see the sun, not the East Cape!
The East Cape is definitely a spectacular and underrated place in NZ!
